Umeed Foundation began not in a boardroom, but on the streets of our city. It started as a simple idea among a small group of friends deeply concerned by the visible environmental degradation around them. What sparked as a weekend cleanup drive quickly caught fire, fueled by the passion of youth who wanted to be the change, not just wait for it. This organic, ground-up movement is the heart of our story—a testament to the power of collective action and the unwavering belief that we can create a greener, cleaner future together.

Umeed Foundation started as a small initiative by a group of friends who were concerned about the environmental issues in their community. It was born from a simple weekend cleanup drive and has since grown into a nationwide youth-led movement.

Our core values are Action, Community, Integrity, and Hope (Umeed). We believe in taking direct action, fostering a strong community of volunteers, operating with complete transparency, and inspiring hope for a better future.

Our Three Pillars of Action

Protect. Restore. Inspire. This is the core of everything we do.

1. Protect

We actively work to protect our natural habitats from further degradation. This includes advocating for stricter anti-pollution policies, organizing mass awareness campaigns about the dangers of single-use plastic, and collaborating with local communities to conserve fragile ecosystems like wetlands, forests, and coastlines. Our goal is to be the guardians of our planet's precious biodiversity.

2. Restore

Restoration is at the heart of our on-ground efforts. Through massive cleanliness drives, we remove tonnes of waste from public spaces, rivers, and coastal areas, often restoring them to their natural beauty. Our large-scale plantation drives, tailored to local climates with native species, help reforest barren lands, combat soil erosion, improve air quality, and recreate vital habitats for wildlife.

3. Inspire

We believe lasting change begins with education and inspiration. We conduct interactive workshops in schools, colleges, and corporate offices to inspire a new generation of environmental leaders. By leveraging social media and community events to share our stories and successes, we aim to motivate individuals and organizations to join the movement for a sustainable future and make conscious choices in their daily lives.

Mumbai Coastal Cleanup

Our team and volunteers tackled plastic pollution head-on during a massive cleanup drive across several Mumbai beaches, removing over 10,000 kg of waste in a single day.
